As part of OFFF's open call for projections on the Disseny Hub, I decided to collate months of balloon research.
In order to infinitely inflate balloons, I first had to solve several problems with balloon simulation. By reverse engineering the pressure simulation values, I was able to estimate where a tiny balloon would be - and where it would need to go to continue inflating safely.
Each balloon then retained data about what shape it represented (In the case of the OFFF facade, which letter shape), and scattered various micro-balloons at a safe distance from its own surface.
In order to project flawlessly onto the Disseny Hub, a custom COP UV-translation algorithm is used to convert an .exr sequence to one that is orthographic, through the lens of the intended projector, where it lines up to the architecture in multiple dimensions.
